Popular South Korean band BTS absolutely broke all records with their release “Dynamite”. The colorful audiovisual production is the first with English lyrics and it became, almost automatically, one of the most viewed videos on YouTube. In fact, it is the content that received the most views in less than a day on the Google video platform.
BTS belongs to the K-pop genre that refers to Korean pop. The group was born in 2010 in the capital of South Korea and is made up of RM, Jimin, Jin, Suga, V, J-Hope and Jungkook. Since their formation they have produced records, films, commercials and videos.
"Dynamite" is the first premiere that BTS has made on a song sung entirely in English. In response to the uncertainty that the bet generated, the young people found a barrage of visits on YouTube, positive reactions and listening on the Spotify platform. In the most important music streaming app, they were among the 50 most listened to songs. The success was also repeated in the country of origin of the group.
The premiere of the video clip was scheduled for later but BTS decided to publish it and make it during these months that society is going through a major crisis. According to the singers, they sought to convey happiness and confidence with their melody. "Dynamite" has a happy and hopeful content.
The production of almost 4 minutes is made by Big Hit Entertainment and the aesthetic refers to the traditional American pop of the 90s (mainly bands like Backstreet Boys or NSYNC). The clip refers again and again to those years with its images, even to previous years. For example, in the first scene one of the young people is in a room with images of David Bowie, The Beatles or Queen. Then the boys appear in a place that sells vinyl, dancing disco-style music and one of them is wearing a Tune Squad T-shirt from Space Jam, the famous movie that Michael Jordan starred in with the Looney Tunes in 1996.
Among the plans that BTS has for the future is the recording of a new album, which will have “Dynamite” as one of its themes and the filming of “Break the silence: The movie Persona” a feature film about one of their live performances.
BTS's “Dynamite” on YouTube came to break all records and certify that among the pop genre there are new kings who come from the east.
