Loretta | Google Super Bowl Commercial 2020 - Youtube
The Super Bowl event draws millions of spectators and the sport is not the only one that the public is waiting for. The performances and commercials of the break always end up monopolizing almost more prominence than the final result. This year, Google has presented an emotional love story that has conquered the hearts of the whole world.
Loretta is the name that this ad has, like the name of its protagonist. Based on a real event, as reported by the general director of marketing of Google, Lorraine Twohill, in it we see how Google Assistant shows us the happiest moments of a couple for the only one of the two who is still alive. A man, a grandfather of an 85-year-old Gloogle who makes his debut as an actor, puts the voice that is heard and asks the brand's search engine to show him images of his deceased wife to keep her alive in his memory. It is a love story seen through the eyes of Google, and the search for this ad is "How not to forget."
The protagonist keeps asking for images of the two of them together, of a town on the coast of Juneao or of their anniversary, he also asks to see his favorite movie or the memory of his favorite flower, ending with a message from Loretta herself “Don't miss me too much and get out of that damn house ”, causing the viewer's heart to break into smaller pieces each time.
This commercial has a lot in common with one that the company launched 10 years ago, Parisian Love, they share being love stories inspired by real events told through a Google product, this being one of the company's objectives, to make the simpler life and help people in their day to day. It continues to be one of the most watched videos on YouTube, reaching more than 60 million views and getting excited every time it is seen.
After its premiere, social media users began to comment on Loretta's story and share the emotion that invaded them, assuring that it was the best advertisement in all of history and claiming that they reminded them of their own grandparents.
Google launched a second ad starring NFL star Joe Montana and it's much more fun and informative. It is clear that this year Google has had no rival, no brand has managed to reach the public, nor the impact of Loretta. Once again it is shown that love moves the world.
